How to Claim PDU’s
As explained, we now understand the activities and category of PDU’s that one can plan for extending certification. You can use this information effectively to list down various activities of your interest and match the same with PMI PDU requirements to work out a plan that suits the best. However, it is important and effective also if you will keep on claiming your PDU’s on PMI website as you earn them by following the process listed below:
-
Log on to pmi.org and go to “myPMI”.
-
On your “myPMI” page under the Certification Status, click on “Report PDUs on CCRS”.
-
You will see links for both Education and Giving Back Claim category. Follow the links as per your plan. Fill in the required information and claim the PDU’s.
-
You need to follow the above steps until you complete the PDUs requirements for the certification you need to review. For example, for PMP you will need to claim 60 PDUs within three years of your certification date.
Tip: I always recommend my students to plan to claim 60 PDU in the first year of your certification only provided you have taken PMI membership. For example, the certification renewal fee for PMP for members is US$60 while that for non-members is US$150 — a US$90 saving.
